• Eyes were Opened
• Sight was Restored
• Saw Everything Clearly

He took the blind man by the hand and led him outside the village. When he had spit on the man’s eyes and put his hands on him, Jesus asked, “Do you see anything?” [...] Once more Jesus put his hands on the man’s eyes. Then his eyes were opened, his sight was restored, and he saw everything clearly.

Jesus was Holy Spirit-Anointed to Preach Good News (hope for the poor)

• Sent to Proclaim Freedom (hope for prisoners of sin and physical limitation)
• Sent to Release the Oppressed (hope for victims of societal sin)
• Sent to Proclaim God’s Favor (hope for the self-condemned)

“The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to release the oppressed, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.” (Isaiah 6:1-2)

• Sicknesses
• Evil Spirits

It was a sight to see, even for the people who hadn’t been blind just moments before …

At that very time Jesus cured many who had diseases, sicknesses and evil spirits, and gave sight to many who were blind.

With Jesus, it is still ”that very time.”

Jesus Knew His Great Results Could Be Considered Unbelievable

• Blind Given Sight
• Lame Made to Walk
• Lepers Made Clean
• Deaf Given Hearing
• Dead Restored to Life

All Good News for the Poor … in Spirit, Health, and Hope

So he replied to the messengers, “Go back and report to John what you have seen and heard: The blind receive sight, the lame walk, those who have leprosy are cured, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, and the good news is preached to the poor.  Blessed is the man who does not fall away on account of me.”

Having said this, he spit on the ground, made some mud with the saliva, and put it on the man’s eyes. “Go,” he told him, “wash in the Pool of Siloam” (this word means Sent). So the man went and washed, and came home seeing. [...] He replied, “The man they call Jesus made some mud and put it on my eyes. He told me to go to Siloam and wash. So I went and washed, and then I could see.” NIV
