Hearing is NOT the Same as Believing

• Hear the Word
• Retain the Word
• Persevere in the Word

The seed that fell among thorns stands for those who hear, but as they go on their way they are choked by life’s worries, riches and pleasures, and they do not mature. But the seed on good soil stands for those with a noble and good heart, who hear the word, retain it, and by persevering produce a crop.

Vineyard Tenants Violently Violated Their Stewardship Agreement

• First Servant: Beaten and Sent Away without Payment
• Second Servant: Beaten, Treated Shamefully, and Sent Away without Payment
• Third Servant: Wounded and Thrown Out

He went on to tell the people this parable: “A man planted a vineyard, rented it to some farmers and went away for a long time.  At harvest time he sent a servant to the tenants so they would give him some of the fruit of the vineyard. But the tenants beat him and sent him away empty-handed.  He sent another servant, but that one also they beat and treated shamefully and sent away empty-handed.  He sent still a third, and they wounded him and threw him out.”
